The Evolution of DOOH Advertising: Past, Present, and Future

As the Founder of ATM.TV at 7-Eleven®, I have had the privilege of witnessing first-hand the incredible evolution of Digital-Out-Of-Home (DOOH) advertising over the last two decades. What was once a fringe marketing medium has now become an indispensable tool for many of the world’s largest brands. As we look to the future, there is no doubt that DOOH advertising will continue to revolutionize the way companies reach their target audiences.

The Early Days of DOOH Advertising

When I founded ATM.TV in the early 2020, DOOH advertising was still in its infancy. The technology was limited, and few companies had access to it. We pioneered the use of HD screens placed above ATM units at 7-Eleven® stores across the United States. At that time, our primary goal was to provide marketers with a new way to reach potential customers in real time.

The Present State of DOOH Advertising

Fast forward to today, and DOOH advertising has grown exponentially. Our HD screens have become a fixture in more than 8,500 participating 7-Eleven® stores across America, reaching over 5 billion people each year. Over 150 different brands have taken advantage of this unique opportunity to target their desired audience in real time. Some of the most notable companies advertising with us include AT&T, Lotto, Chase Bank, Live Nation, Allstate Insurance, MoneyGram and many more.

The Future of DOOH Advertising

The future of DOOH advertising is bright. As technology continues to improve, we expect more companies to take advantage of this powerful medium. Companies will be able to create even more engaging content that will allow them to better target their desired audiences.
